The Best 3-Ingredient Banana Pancakes for Baby
These Banana Pancakes are a ridiculously easy and quick breakfast, lunch, or snack for your kids! This is my go-to recipe that only requires three simple ingredients—banana, egg, and flour—and yet they turn out perfectly fluffy and soft every time! Great for 6+ months, babies, baby-led weaning, toddlers, kids, and adults (yes, you!).

Banana Pancakes for Baby & Toddler
Are you looking for an easy and healthy pancake recipe you can toss together for your baby or toddler in less than 10 minutes? 🤔
I’ve got you!
These 3-ingredient Banana Pancakes are going to be your jam if you want a recipe that:
🍌 requires 3 pantry staple ingredients
🥣 is made in one bowl and takes less than 10 minutes to make
🧑🧑🧒🧒 is great for your baby, blw, toddlers, and kids
🧊 leftovers (if there are any) are freezer-friendly
Both of my girls started their pancake journey with cut-up strips of my Spinach Blender Pancakes and Whole Wheat Pancakes, but one morning I was sleep-deprived due to a teething baby, out of coffee, and generally not feeling like making breakfast for a food-resistant toddler, but I dug down deep into my caffeine-deprived reservoir, riffled into my pantry and whipped up this recipe on a whim. I was shocked when the recipe turned out! I was probably even more shocked when my toddler, who was turning their nose at everything, dug into 3 huge servings of pancakes!
Since that fateful morning, I have made this recipe HUNDREDS of times (with varying caffeine levels), and my entire family still devours these pancakes every-single-time.
Are you ready to make these 5-Star Banana Pancakes for your family? YES! That’s what I thought. Let’s get cooking.
#momhack—Over the years, I have learned to double or triple this recipe, depending on how many ripe bananas I have on my counter. No matter how many batches of these banana pancakes I make, they are always eaten by the end of the day. If you have some leftovers, you can place them in a stasher bag and keep them in the freezer.
Ingredients

Let’s Make the Perfect Banana Pancakes!

In a medium bowl, mash the banana until smooth. Add in the egg, flour and cinnamon.

With a fork or whisk, mix the ingredients until just incorporated. Don’t go crazy here, just mix until the flour is absorbed.

Spoon the batter onto a medium skillet over medium-low heat and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side.

Add-Ins
You can make these easy pancakes as-is or add in a pinch of spices or finely chopped fruit. Here are a couple of my favorite additions:
- Pumpkin Spice Mix
- Nutmeg
- Vanilla
- Strawberries (finely chopped)
- Blueberries (finely chopped)
- Peaches (finely chopped, towel-dried)

Baby-led Weaning Pancakes
These pancakes are perfect for baby-led weaning or as a finger food because they are soft to eat and your baby can easily pick them up in their hands for a palmar grasp or with their pincer grasp if they cut into smaller chunks. You can serve them to your baby sliced in half or cut into small chunks.
Banana Pancakes for Toddlers and Kids
These quick and easy pancakes are also great for toddlers and kids. You can serve them a smear of cream cheese or peanut butter, topped with yogurt and berries or the classic version with butter and syrup.
Storing and Freezing
Because we are not using any salt or preservatives in these pancakes, they tend to store in an air-tight container for only 1-2 days. You can freeze pancakes and will last up to 3 months in the freezer. To reheat, gently heat in the microwave or toaster.

Ingredients
- 1 medium banana, with a few brown spots
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp flour (see notes)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Mash: in a medium bowl, mash the banana until very smooth with only a few lumps.
- Add: add in the flour, egg and cinnamon (if using).

- Mix: with a fork or whisk, mix until everything is combined.

- Cook: heat a medium skillet over medium heat, spray with cooking spray or add a little butter if needed. Drop one tablespoon of batter on the skillet and let cook for 3-4 minutes or until the sides are starting to become firm and the bottoms are golden brown. You will not see any bubbles like traditional pancakes. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

- Serve: let cool slightly and serve.

Notes
- Size: these pancakes are supposed to be on the smaller size, so roughly 1 tablespoon of batter will make the perfect size for a baby or toddler. If made any bigger, they start to fall apart when flipped.
- Ripe Banana: you will want to use a banana that is ripe with a few brown spots on it for this recipe. Riper bananas are sweeter than green bananas, and since we are not adding any sugar to this recipe, the ripe bananas will provide more flavor and sweetness.

Great recipe, nice and simple. Made small pancakes and stored the rest for tomorrow! Thanks!
So glad you liked this recipe! Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I appreciate it.
I 10/10 recommend this recipe!!!! My 16 months old never really liked the other pancakes I made for her in the past but she ate these very well🔥🔥
So happy to hear that your little one liked these pancakes! Plus, they are so easy to make!
Hi! Love these!
Question: if I have 4 bananas, do I just triple the other ingredients as well? Thanks!!
I meant 3 bananas! 🙂
Yes, you can triple the recipe if you have 3 bananas. I actually always make at least a double batch of these since they are a great recipe to freeze for a later meal.
Do you cook the pancakes and freeze the cooked pancakes? or do you/can you freeze or store the batter?
I prefer to cook and freeze the pancakes (not freeze the batter).
If freezing these what’s the best way to reheat?
I reheat them in the toaster, but you can also use a microwave or toaster oven. I just pop them in like a frozen waffle:)
These came out perfectly for my baby! I used whole wheat pastry flour and served with strawberries.
Love that you used whole wheat pastry flour. So happy your baby enjoyed them!
Hi! I was wondering if this recipe is okay to make as a waffle instead of pancakes?
I have not tried it, but I think it’s a great idea! If you try it, let us know how they turned out.
Just made these for my 18mo. He absolutely loves em! Initially I couldn’t get them right, kept sticking to the pan and their surfaces would always stick and burn and they looked terrible. So switched pans from a non stick to a cast iron – and it was so much better. Used VCO instead on the pan. Tq! Can’t wait to make more of these later for him.
So glad you got the recipe to turn out and that your little one loves them!
Tried these with my 9 month and she loved them. I even ate a few. Lol. – We used oat flour and cinnamon… followed recipe cards measurements. Pretty good.
So glad you all liked these pancakes! Love the adjustments you used:)
Hi! I would start with my BLW. I am very much grateful for this website. Helps me a lot with recipes! I also want to ask if it is safe to store the pancake mixture in the refrigerator? Thanks!
So glad you are here! I haven’t tried storing this pancake recipe in the fridge but I have stored others in the fridge with great results. If the batter is too thick, you can add in some liquid to thin it out before cooking.
My 7 month old loved these had one and was crying for another very easy to make
So glad your little one loved these! But sorry about the crying!
WE LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE!! They’re so tasty and super easy to make. This is a hit for the whole family. The size makes them easy to handle too.
So happy to hear that your entire house loves these pancakes!
My toddler loves it and I will keep making them now. Thank you for sharing.
So glad your toddler is enjoying these!
So quick and easy and super yummy
So glad you like these!
Great recipe! My 12 month old loves them – as do I! Thank You!
So happy to hear that both you and your little one loves these pancakes!
Made these for my 10 month old and he loooooves them. I personally love them too. Thank you for sharing this recipe! It’s the best. ❤️
So glad you both love these pancakes! It’s still one of my girls favorite pancakes.
My 8 month old LOVED these.
So glad your little one loved these! Such an easy pancake recipe to make.
Made this for my 10 month old. Used almond flour with the same measurement and it worked great. She devoured them 🙂
So glad this worked with almond flour. And thanks for letting us know it’s an good alternative.
I made these today for my 16 month old. Added a few chocolate chips to each one and we both had them for breakfast. He thoroughly enjoyed them! So much healthier than anything store bought but still gives him that sweetness that he really loves. Thank you!
So glad you both enjoyed them! My girls always ask for the added chocolate chips, which makes them SO good!
My 9 month old loved them! They’re easy to make! We used coconut flour 🧡
I am so glad your little one loves these. And thanks for letting us know that coconut flour works. Do you use the amount listed in the recipe card?
Made these this morning! I mushed the banana in a plastic bag and then used it to mix all the ingredients. My seven month old loves them! And is currently happy munching on these while I write this review! Thank you for yet another wonderful recipe!!
Brilliant idea to make it in a baggie! And happy to hear your little one is loving these tasty pancakes:)
These were SO good and so easy. I ended up eating two of them while waiting for the rest to cook haha.
So glad you enjoyed these! I usually add a few chocolate chips to the ones I eat:)
Hi there! I wanted to try these with my six month old but wasn’t sure how to feed them to her? Won’t they make her choke?
You can hand her 1/2 of a small pancake so she can use her palmar grasp to pick it up and gnaw on the pancake. You can read more about feeding baby solid foods in my Complete Guide to Baby-Led Weaning.
I’ve been trying to perfect pancakes for my baby for the last 6 months. THIS is the absolute best recipe I’ve found. I just got done making a quadruple batch to freeze! Thank you for putting an end to my quest for the perfect baby pancake.
Thank you for your comment! It’s made my day! I am so glad your little one loves these and I was able to take one thing off your to-do list:)
My 7 month old loved these thank you so much. How long can I keep mixture in the fridge.
Thank you
I would make the entire batch and then put the finished pancakes in the fridge (for up to 5 days) or freezer (up to 3 months).
Great recipe! My LO loves them! (All your recipes actually) To clarify, how long can we freeze these for?
The recipe says one month, but will they be okay for three?
So glad your little one loves these pancakes! Up to 3 months in the freezer is totally fine.
Perfection, delicious and easy. Thank you!
So glad your little one enjoyed it! Thanks for being here.
Hi there, these are really tasty but my pancakes were a little mushy inside, not fluffy. Did I not cook them properly? They were nice and golden brown on outside.
I haven’t had them mushy on the inside before, but let me help you troubleshoot. Did you use the ingredients and quantities listed in the recips
I think the issue is making them to thick… that was my mistake! Hehe
How much flour?
It’s in the recipe card – but it’s 2 tbsp flour.
Made these for my 13 month old daughter today—SO easy and she absolutely loved them! Definitely adding them to our breakfast rotation! Thank you!!
So glad she loved them and you found them easy to make! Yay!
My baby boy loves this pancakes..thanks 💙
So glad to hear this!
Can I use oat flour for this recipe?
I haven’t made this with oat flour but I could see it working in this recipe. I would start by using the same amount as directed in the recipe card and if the batter is too thick, add a tablespoon or two of milk in to thin it out.
This is a great recipe.
But please for babies under 1 year old they cannot have honey drizzle topping. Honey is not recommended until at least 1 year old as bacteria can live inside.
Glad you liked the recipe! Yes, honey is for toddlers 1+ years of age, which it states right next to the recipe add-on recommendation as I think these pancakes are also great for toddlers and kids.
Please can I have this recipe in grams ?
Simple & delicious! My 8 month old son LOVED these with a little peanut butter on top! Will definitely be making for him again 🙂 thank you!
So glad your son loved them! And love the addition of peanut butter on top!
Great recipe, fluffy pancakes (mine actually did bubble) and my baby loved them! Will definitely keep making them for her. Thank you!
So happy to hear that baby loved them:)
Great recipe! So easy and my baby loves them.
So glad baby loves them ❤️
Morning!
My little one is sensitive to egg. Do you have any alternatives for egg in this recipe?
I haven’t tried using a ‘flax egg’ in this recipe, but it’s worth a shot. You could also try one of these easy recipes: Sweet Potato Pancakes for Baby (Easy + Delicious), Pumpkin Pancakes for Baby + Toddler or Easy Blender Spinach Pancakes for Baby + Toddler (Allergy Friendly!).
I just made these for my 9 month old. She loves them! She is just starting to feed herself and this is a perfect beginner food.
So happy to hear that baby is loving these pancakes! They are the perfect finger food to freeze for meals later on, so hopefully, you had the chance to freeze a couple of them.
These are the first finger foods our little miss actually ate! She’s 7months and our pediatrician wants us to give her some finger foods to practice her pincher grip, but baby LOVES her purées and has refused all the finger foods we’d tried until these pancakes!
Great recipe! Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I am so happy she loves them and is working on her pincher grip:)
Thanks for this yummy pancake recipe!
Thanks you, Greeshma! 💕
This recipe is amazing. The flavor and texture are perfect. My son loved it and was very good!
So happy to hear your little one loved it!
Made this today for my 9 month old and almost 4yr old, both loved it. I also had some, so delicious 😋, thank you!
So happy to hear that both your baby and toddler loved this! So nice when you can feed them both with one recipe!
Made this today and burnt most of them. Think I have to adjust the temp lower because mine browned so quick. Hard to tell if it’s cooked all the way through since I know the bananas make them moist. Will have to try again. I ate the non burnt parts and they really were delicious!
Oh no, I hate to hear that your pancakes burned. What stovetop temperature were you using? I have never had my pancakes burn before so I want to make sure yours don’t next time.
It was at a 4. Attempting these again tonight but I’ll try it at a 2.
Just finished them and they turned out great. I cooked them for about 2 minutes on either side at a lower temp and instead of cinnamon, I put some powdered peanut butter since he loves peanut butter! Thanks for the recipe! I guess my stove heats a lot higher than most Haha.
This might sound odd. I’m worried about giving my 7 month old something that has been fried on a pan. Can these be baked? If so, how?
Thank you!
I have not tried to bake these pancakes, but it’s worth a try. A great pan to use with foods that you are cooking for your baby is a cast-iron skillet. It provides a good way to add in just a little amount of iron into their foods.
Same for me! My baby’s 10.5 months and my older daughter will be 4 in May. It was awesome that they both loved them and wanted more! I also really enjoyed them 😋
