Servings: 26 ounces
Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 medium red beet, peeled and chopped
- 3/4 cup white beans
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 inches of water to a boil. In a steamer basket, add in the sweet potato, beet and beans, place basket over boiling water and cover. Steam for 12-15 minutes or until all ingredients are tender when pricked with a fork. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Reserve steamer water.
- Transfer all ingredients to a blender or food processor. Add in 1/4 cup liquid (steamer water, breast milk, formula, stock or water).
- Puree all of the ingredient at high speed for 1-2 minutes or until you reach your desired consistency. Add in additional liquid in 1/4 cup increments if puree is too thick. I had to add in 1/2 cup of reserved steamer water to the puree pictured above.

Hi Michele! I’ve used many of your recipes for both of my babies and now our second baby refuses to eat store made baby food because your recipes have made her a little baby foodie! Score! Question: I have steamed whole organic beets in my fridge that I purchased from Costco. Could I use those and just steam the sweet potato and white beans and add it to the prepared beet or will it mess the flavor up?
Haha! Sorry.. not sorry;). Happy to hear shes a little foodie.
Yes! You can definitely use pre-steamed beets. Steam the sweet potato and beans and add the beets when you are pureeing.
Hi Michele
What kind of beans do you use: canned or dried?
Love your recipes! My 8 month old can get enough and always asks for more!
Love to hear this! I used canned (and rinsed) beans. You can use dried beans if you soak them first.
