Comotomo Baby Bottle

The Comotomo baby bottle is one of our favorite bottles for many reasons. Its revolutionary design doesn’t look or feel like your typical baby bottle. And there’s a good reason for this – Comotomo bottles most closely mimic natural breastfeeding. Babies who have rejected other bottles may accept the Comotomo bottle because of how breast-like the material feels.

User Experience

The Comotomo Baby Bottle is absolutely one of our favorite bottles for babies! It has a wide neck and soft silicone bottle that mimics natural breastfeeding, which in our experience makes it easy for baby to go back and forth between this bottle and the breast. Plus, it’s super easy to clean and can be washed in the dishwasher or handwashed with any standard dish brush.

Different Types of Bottles

Comotomo Baby Bottle (8 Ounce) – recommended for 3-6 months; comes with a medium flow nipple for growing little ones. For babies 6+ months, faster flow and variable flow (Y-cut) nipples are also available.

Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle (5 Ounce) – recommended for newborns to 3 months; comes with a slow flow nipple.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the Comotomo bottles leak?

Comotomo bottles have a very good track record for being practically leak-proof, according to many user reviews. The only time users have reported leaking seems to happen during assembly, if the nipple was not sealed to the outer ring properly.

Are the Comotomo bottles dishwasher safe?

Yes! Comotomo baby bottles are dishwasher and sterilizer safe.

Can I get replacement parts?

Replacement nipples are available for purchase, although Comotomo does not sell replacement collar rings.

How do I prevent mold from getting in the Comotomo bottle?

You can prevent mold from growing in or around the bottle by cleaning the bottles immediately after use. Allow all parts to air dry before reassembling.

What Makes Comotomo Bottles Special

Comotomo’s baby bottles are made of silicone, which provides a very firm and non-slip grip. A silicone bottle will not crack or shatter when dropped, like plastic or glass bottles might. Once your baby gets older, the material and lightweight design also make it easy for your little one to grasp and hold onto the bottle.

The Comotomo bottle can be squeezed slightly if needed, which helps replicate the let-down reflex at the beginning of breastfeeding. This may work well for some babies that are used to this. The wide-mouth design makes it much easier to avoid spills and messes when transferring breastmilk or mixing formula.

What Age Can Use Comotomo Bottles

Newborns and babies 6+ months can use Comotomo bottles. The Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle (5 ounce) is recommended for newborns to 3 months of age. The Comotomo Baby Bottle (8 ounce) is recommended for 3+ months. Most pediatricians recommend starting to wean your baby from the bottle around 12 months of age.

How to Clean the Bottle

Clean bottles and all parts immediately after use, either with hot soapy water or in the dishwasher. Comotomo recommends sterilizing the bottles and all the parts before using them for the first time, as well as sterilizing bottles as frequently as you can until baby is 6 months of age. After that, Comotomo recommends sterilizing bottles and nipples once a week.

The Comotomo bottle does not require a bottle brush, thanks to its wide mouth design. However, you will still want a smaller brush to clean the nipple. Make sure that the ends of the vents (back of the nipple) are clear and free from any milk residue that may cause clogging. You can do this by kneading the vent tips in warm water or sterilizing the nipple in boiling water for 5 minutes.

Pros + Cons

Pros

  • designed to mimic breastfeeding, which helps babies easily transition back and forth from nursing to bottle feeding
  • wide-neck design
  • only 3 parts for truly easy cleaning
  • made of hygienic silicone material so you don’t have to worry about toxic chemicals

Cons

  • due to their wide-mouth design, they may not fit in all baby bottle warmers (Comotomo does give a list of compatible bottle warmers on the FAQ page of their website)
  • the soft silicone body and small base may tip over more easily if you’re not careful
  • silicone material can make it hard to heat the milk quickly (unless you heat in a different bottle first)

Feeding Tips Using the Comotomo Bottle

  • Sit baby in a more upright position in your arms, versus lying down. This reduces the pressure of milk flow into the baby’s mouth and encourages your baby to actively suck.
  • Hold the bottle horizontally and keep the nipple only about halfway full. Allow baby to take 5-10 sucks and then gently pull the nipple back slightly so it’s touching baby’s bottom lip. This will allow your baby to pull the nipple back into their mouth when they are ready to suck again.
  • Take breaks during the feed to burp your baby or gently rub their back to help pace the feeding.
  • Alternate which side you feed your baby on to mimic breastfeeding more closely.

What Parents are Saying

I am a first time mom and did my research on great bottles for your infants that are similar to the nipple and prevents gas or colic. The Comotomo bottle are outstanding! My son took to it at two months without any issues He is now 4 months old and can still go back and forth with ease from breastfeeding to the bottle. The bottles are easy to clean. The texture is great, makes it easy for you and your baby to grip. The shape of the nipple on the bottle and how wide the area is, doesn’t allow my son to suck in a lot of air. This prevents a lot of painful gas.

-Odette

My son has had terrible terrible gas issues from the time he came home from the hospital with taking into much air with his bottles. We have bought every bottle you can think of the best one was the doctor brown wide neck but I hated them there is just too many pieces to clean but they are definitely worth the hassle considering they did help my son. So I read and read to find possibly another bottle That didn’t have so many pieces I decided to give these ones a try and to my surprise they are fantastic even better than the Dr. brown I havent had to give my son no gas drops at all since we started using these bottles. With the Dr. Brown’s I still had to give gas drops with basically every feeding. I just cannot say enough about how amazing these bottles are. They are extremely easy to clean they’re very well-made. If I had to be picky the only complaint that I would have is they need to have more options for colors I would love to have blue ones or teal.

-Dusti H.

I LOVE these bottles. Being a first time mom is overwhelming and there are a million different bottles out there but a close friend recommended these and we are obsessed! They’re easy to clean because they’re flexible and wide so you can reach in and really clean them. The nipples are breastlike which has worked wonderfully for us. My milk took a while to come in and my baby had no problem going from nursing to these bottles back to nursing. These bottles encourage a good latch due to their shape. My little girl has issues with reflux and these bottle are great at decreasing air bubbles. We have a ton of these in both the 5oz and 8oz in both green and pink and would recommend them to everyone. Our baby is 2 months old and these bottles get used and washed daily sometimes multiple times and they’re holding up Wonderfully!
