Green Pea Hummus for Baby + Toddler
Welcome back from whatever holiday adventure you were on. I hope that whatever you were doing and wherever you where, you had a wonderful and magical time with your family and loved ones.
But now, it’s really time to get back to it.
That’s right. Stop slacking off like I am.
Was it just me, or did the New Year just come and go and I didn’t even notice. It might be that I didn’t even make it to midnight on the big night but hey, who’s counting. I welcomed in 2014 in some time zone, it just wasn’t mine.
Now it is almost a week into the New Year and I’m just getting around to thinking about making a resolution, planing to start eating right again and possibly going to the gym. I’m not always so slow about these types of things, but this year I seem to be.
Talking about being slow on things, I was planning on sharing this recipe in December in order to give you plenty of time to fall in love with it and bring to a family friendly party. You would get a ton of ‘oohs and awes’ and be the star mom to all the other mommies. Can you see it? Can you taste the glory? But I failed you and just didn’t get around to it.
So sorry. Better late then never. Right?
But it works for the New Year as well. A healthy and delicious dip or puree that can be enjoyed by everyone in the family. Only five easy ingredients whirled together in the food processor for a minute or two and you are all set. Bright green peas are joined by chick peas to smooth out the pea taste because who can blame a toddler for not wanting to dip their veggies into a veggie tasting dip.
Two veggies doesn’t always make it better.
Then lemon is added to kick up the peas with a zang and a dash of turmeric makes this dip anything but boring. This is great as a dip or to just spoon to your little one.
Enjoy!
Michele

This looks perfect! Have you had any success freezing this one?
Hello Gretchen,
I have never tried (we usually eat it too fast) but after doing some research it looks like you can! I read to just not overfill the ice cube tray or container and then put just a little bit of olive oil on top to keep it nice and moist when you frost it. I would defrost it by just leaving the cube(s) in the fridge overnight.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Michele

I loved this! So tasty even without the salt.
My baby loved this! Do you think I can make a red bell pepper hummus with this recipe?
I have not tried using red bell peppers with this recipe, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. If you give it a try, please let us know how it turns out. Thanks!
