Heeeeyyyyyyyyyy you guyyyyyys!
You are going to want to make this deliciously warm, thick and sinfully good puree immediately – like right now!
So set down your phone, blast your favorite spotify station and get to work.
Don’t worry, there isn’t that much work involved, it is Friday after-all. And this puree only takes like 15 seconds to make – 5 seconds of prep, 3 seconds of smashing, 20 second of warming and then you get to have a decadent 5 F-U-L-L minutes of pure puree bliss by yourself!!
I can taste it now!
While I am all for this puree being spooned into your little ones mouth, trust me when I say they are going to love you for it, I made this puree more for you. We mommas need a special treat sometimes and since I know I don’t need to talk you into having another cup of coffee, wine or that extra brownie.
I just thought that a nice healthy puree that tastes like a top notch dessert will do the trick.
Here’s the plan – double this recipe so you can serve this puree to your babes tonight for dinner, while you indulge in Friday night pizza and one too many glasses of wine of course. Tthen put your little one down and come back to the kitchen and grab a separate and waaaayyyy bigger bowl of this puree for yourself.
No seriously!
YOU are going to love this puree/dessert/amazingness!!
Ripe bananas smashed with a fork before being gently warmed, this warming step is not weird just go with me here, all before you swirl in some thick, flavorful and delicious coconut milk all topped with a big sprinkle of cinnamon.

Hi Michele,
Can the coconut milk also be the carton version of it? or does it have to be canned?
Hello Saudi,
For baby food, I would recommend always using the canned coconut milk because it isn’t as processed as the carton version and it has way more fat and nutrients that baby needs.

Can you add this to formula & oatmeal? We do a banana smoothie for bedtime (6oz formula, 1Tbsp & 1/2 tsp oatmeal and 2.5oz bananas) so it would be NICE to mix it up.
Hello Courtney,
Sorry so late, I wouldn’t see why not! Give it a try and see how it goes. Let me know what your little cutie thinks:)

Is there a specific brand of the canned coconut milk you would recommend? Most I have seen contain a thickener like guar gum…. Is that safe for baby?
Good question – quar gum is actually derived from a natural food – the gaur bean and so far studies have shown that when eaten in huge amounts 15% of calorie total it has actually helped lower body weight and lower blood glucose. You can read about it here –

There is no way your baby will ever eat it in that big of quantity, so I would say that it is safe for baby. I usually buy the organic whole foods brand because I find it doesn’t separate as much as some other brands. But if you want a guar free coconut milk this brand, Natural Value Organic Coconut Milk is a good choice.
Hope this helps!

I love your blog! I have made a lot of these recipes from my DS. I was wondering if I could freeze the coconut milk in my ice trays and then add it to fresh bananas as needed?
I am pretty sure this would work and is a GREAT idea! I have tossing a half can of coconut milk if I don’t use it right away. I started just whipping up any left over coconut milk and spooning onto my coffee for a little treat but please report back to us if this works.

michelle why do you take so long to answer
Sorry this took so long… this back-to-school thing is killing me right now. I don’t think I have put on clean clothes in the last 3 weeks! HA!
As far as your banana question goes. I have found that when you mix banana with other fruits or vegetables you can totally leave in the fridge for 3-4 days and freeze for up to 4 months with no problems because the natural acid make the banana not turn brown. In this recipe, the banana has nothing to preserve it’s color. You can try adding in a squeeze of lemon juice to the puree and then storing in the fridge.
Hope that helps,
Michele
ps – I am WAY better about getting back asap on Instagram, so shot me a question there if you need faster replys.
