A couple of weeks ago I started going to pre-natal yoga classes to try to relieve some of the morning sickness I am still experiencing but I also thought it was time for me to get off my butt and workout for a change. This winter I had became very stationary and that needed to change. In the several classes that I have attended I have been the only one there that already had a kid, the rest are going to be first time moms.
It was remarkable the different between us.
The moms-to-be are glowing, with a serge of energy, freshly polished toes and wearing cute clothes that were clean. They look like the perfect picture pregnant women that I only wish I could me. Then I come in the studio barley making it before they lock the front door, heaving a huge sigh of relief as a flop down on my mat in my grungy toddler food painted cloths with a look of confusion on my face when the other ladies actually want to practice yoga and not just take a nap.
The difference was there. It was real. I was the only one that could tell them all they needed to know about what lay ahead but I know they wouldn’t listen. I sure didn’t.
I made this refreshening smoothie after my yoga session and was not planning on giving any to my little one because I was being selfish and wanted to stand and stare out the window and dream about life before being a mother and enjoy something all to myself. But you know, she gave me that cute look of hers so I gave her half, ok fine, you are right it was a little less then half. As we sat there sipping away, sharing a little moment I realized that with me in my dirty yoga pants and her in a tutu was just about as perfect as life could get.
Toddler Tropical Smoothie
1 organic Banana
1 cup organic fresh, frozen or canned Pineapple
1 organic Orange, peeled
1/2 cup plain Greek Yogurt
1 tbsp organic Peanut, Almond or Seed Butter
1 tbsp organic Shredded Coconut
1 tsp Flax Seeds
1/4 organic Milk of choice
1/2 cup ice
Place all ingredients in blender in order listed. Start of on lowest speed and continue to highest speed for 2 minutes.
Makes 2 large toddler size servings.
