Servings: 16 ounces
Ingredients
- 1 16-oz bag frozen organic mango
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract or pinch of fresh vanilla bean seeds
Instructions
- Place the frozen mango and vanilla extract/vanilla bean into a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat, stirring often until heated all the way through and tender roughly 3-4 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- Transfer the mango into a blender or food processor. If your mango mixture gets an excess of liquid while cooking, strain the mangos and reserve the mango liquid into a bowl.
- Blend on high for 1 minute or until the puree completely smooth.
Notes
Age: 4 months and up
Yield: 16 ounces
Mango Tip: I usually find that organic frozen mangos are easier and cheaper to find then fresh organic mangos, but if mangos are in season when you are making this recipe, by all means you can use fresh over frozen. For fresh mangos, simply peel and chop.
Storage: Fridge – store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Freezer – can be frozen for up to 4 months (this and this are my favorite freezer storage containers).

Super easy and quick! My little isn’t liked any fruits yet so hopefully this will do the trick! : )
I made a few vegetable purées before finding your recipes (she loves vegetables!) but I didn’t get to add any spices to them. They’re puréed and frozen already. Is there any way to add some spice/flavoring when I thaw them to serve? I have butternut squash, carrots, and calabaza (a type of pumpkin). Thank you! I am looking forward to making many more of your recipes.
So happy to hear that your little one loves veggies! Yes, you can add a pinch of spice while thawing:)
My one concern was if it was safe to give vanilla extract to babies since it has alcohol? Or should I get an alcohol free vanilla extract?
You can do alcohol-free or you can use fresh bean paste or vanilla beans (scrapping off the fresh pods from the inside) if you prefer.
So excited to give this a try!! Maybe I missed it somewhere, but is there a reason the vanilla is added in the steaming process & not just right into the blender?
I like adding in the vanilla during the cooking process and I think it makes the flavor a little more mellow and so incorporate with the mango better.
