Cranberry, Pear + Cloves Baby Food Puree
This Cranberry, Pear + Cloves Baby Food Puree tastes just like the classic holiday dish but for baby! Great for 6+ months – Stage 2 baby food.

Cranberry, Pear + Cloves Baby Food Puree
Thanksgiving is tomorrow and let’s get real, I haven’t had a moment to think about what I am thankful for this year. There is always the standard response – loved ones. Family, friends, the kids. You know those people you surround yourself with because you love them and they love you. And I am thankful for them.
But really, I am most thankful that the people above have supported me through my transition from a career that I became dispassionate about over the last couple of years [which of course paid me a good deal of money], to a career that I am beyond passionate about [which happens to pay me nothing]. A career that I live, breathe and dream about. A career that makes me smile. A career that makes me satisfied with myself. A career that at the end of the day, is never done but I feel like I have spent the precious hours of the day doing something that rocks. A career that makes me test my abilities I never knew were there.

So, Thank you family. Thank you friends. Thank you little babes for being the wind beneath my wings [yup, I just had to go there]
I don’t get me wrong, I am also extremely thankful for homemade pumpkin pie.

Baby’s Thanksgiving Meal
I always find it hard to go to someones house and still try to feed my baby wholesome foods. The common Thanksgiving meal can be turned into a healthy feast for your little one if you plan a little ahead.
- Bring a snack for just them [and any other kids at the dinner]. I bring either a dish of sliced olives or a pouch filled with a healthy puree. This way they will not get too h-angry if you have to wait awhile for the food to be served.
- Always skip anything that has gravy or too much butter and opt for the items that are vegetable or protein heavy [they will also have butter and fat in them so the babes is getting a special treat by just eating green beans with butter].
- Start with a little portion of the healthy foods and see how they react. It is always entertaining to see what the little ones prefer.
- Skip the cranberry sauce and make this puree. Fresh or canned cranberry sauce is loaded with sugar [this is probably why it is my favorite Thanksgiving side] which isn’t good for the babes. This puree is just as delicious without all the processed sugar. Yea!
- If there is just something they have to have, give them a small portion but fill their plate first with the healthier foods.
- Have fun! It is just one meal with foods they don’t usually get.

The servings below are just suggestions and you might have to adjust according to your babies age and chewing capability.
2 tbsp mashed up turkey [if you are having dinner at your house, use a blender to mash up. If not a fork will do just fine]
mixed with
2 tbsp mashed potatoes
2 tbsp Cranberry + Pear + Cloves Puree
2 green beans to chew on or mashed up
1 tbsp pumpkin pie – no crust

I’ve just made this recipe for a second time. My pears were still a little hard and the cranberries more bitter. Any flavor suggestions to cut the tartness? Mandarin orange? Apple? Find some pears that are juicy?
Sorry for the delay. Apples would sweeten this recipe up and I love the idea of adding in a splash of orange juice! Yum! Pears can be tricky because they go from rock hard to too soft in a blink of an eye.
