In this guide, you’ll learn how to serve Tomatoes to your Baby! Tomatoes are a great food to serve to your baby before they turn one, and you can serve them as a baby food puree or for baby-led weaning starting at 6+ months.

Ingredients

Roasted Tomato Baby Food

  • 4 medium-large tomatoes
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • pinch fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

Roasted Tomato Baby Food

  • Preheat the oven to 400℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cut the tomatoes in half and place them on the baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil.
  • Place the baking sheet into the oven, and roast for 20-25 minutes or until the tomatoes are tender when pricked with a fork. Let them cool slightly.
  • Serve as a Baby Puree: Place the roasted tomatoes and basil into a blender. On medium-high speed, puree the tomatoes for 60 seconds or until smooth. Pour the tomato puree into a small bowl and serve to your baby.
  • Serve for Baby-Led Weaning: Quarter the roasted tomatoes and then peel the skin off. Sprinkle with basil (optional). Serve one section of the tomato to your baby at a time for them to self-feed.
You can also puree the tomatoes (instructions above) before tossing the sauce with big-shaped pasta such as ziti or bowtie and serve to your baby.
