Here's a DIY version of the popular store-bought sandwich! Plus, I have 8 great flavor combinations to keep your kid happy and full.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices soft sandwich bread
  • 2 tbsp nut butter
  • 2 tbsp jam

Instructions

  • Lay two pieces of bread on a cutting board.
  • Spread and the peanut on both sides of the bread.
  • Add the jam to one piece of bread. Place one piece of bread on top of the other.
  • Gently press down on the sandwich. I find this helps bind the bread and spread out the crust, causing less breakage.
  • Press down with the outer sandwich cutter and remove the leftover crust.
  • Then gently press down on the inner sealer to seal the bread together. Go slow with this part so you don’t break the bread.

Notes

Flavor Combos:
  • pb&j
  • turkey and cheese
  • nut butter and honey
  • cream cheese and jam
  • hummus and avocado
  • peanut butter, banana, honey and chia seeds
  • apple butter and ricotta
  • nutella and strawberries
  • avocado and grated hard-boiled egg
Bread: you can use any soft sandwich or gluten-free bread. If it's too hard, place in the microwave and heat for 10-20 seconds or until just warm.
How to Store and Freeze Uncrustable Sandwiches
Depending on the fillings, Uncrustables will keep in an air-tight container in the fridge for 2-3 days and in the freezer for up to 3 months.
You can easily freeze the pb&j, turkey and cheese, or nut butter honey Uncrustables. To freeze Uncrustables, place them in a ziplock freezer bag or stasher bag and remove as much air as possible.
To thaw an Uncrustable sandwich, you simply place a frozen Uncrustable into a lunch box and by lunchtime, it will be thawed. To serve immediately, gently warm in the microwave in 15-20 second intervals.
