This simple combination puree is a great way to serve baby two different green vegetables – spinach and broccoli.

Ingredients

  • 3 apples, cored, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup packed spinach

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, bring 2 inches of water to a boil. In a steamer basket, add in the apples and broccoli, place basket over boiling water and cover. Steam for 7 minutes. Add in spinach on top of the apples and broccoli, cover and steam for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Reserve steamer water.
  • Transfer all ingredients to a blender or food processor and puree on high for 1-2 minutes. Add the reserved steamer water, breast milk or formula, in 1/4 cup increments, to get puree to the right consistency. I had to add 1/4 cup of water to the puree above.

Notes

Adding in Spice: feel free to add in 1/2 tsp chopped fresh chives, 1/2 tsp hemp hearts, 1 tsp coconut or olive oil OR 1/4 tsp lemon zest to the puree while blending.
Age: 6 months and up
