4.9 stars (35 ratings)
This vibrant puree has a fun yet complex sweet and savory taste profile and I would for sure add in a pinch of mild curry powder or chopped fresh thyme to play up the exotic flavor that is happening.

Ingredients

  • 3 apples, cored, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 sweet potato, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, peeled and roughly chopped

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, bring 2 inches of water to a boil. In a steamer basket, add in all of the ingredients, place basket over boiling water and cover. Steam for 10-12 minutes or until all ingredients are tender. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Reserve steamer water.
  • Transfer all ingredients into a blender or food processor and puree on high for 1-2 minutes. Add the reserved steamer water, breast milk or formula, in 1/4 cup increments, to get puree to the right consistency. I had to add 3/4 cup of water to the puree above.

Notes

Notes on Adding in Spice: feel free to add in 1/2 tsp mild curry, 1/4 tsp cloves, 1/4 cinnamon, 1/4 tsp chopped fresh thyme OR 1/4 tsp chopped fresh rosemary to this puree.
