Avocado, Pear + Kiwi Baby Food Puree
This Avocado, Pear + Kiwi Baby Food Puree is a sweet puree that has a fun citrusy twist. Loaded with fiber, potassium, folate vitamin A and C this puree is as healthy as it is delicious. Great for baby 6 months and older, stage 2 baby food.

Now it Friday for all of us! YAY! I hope wherever you are, it is warm and sunny and you didn’t get hit with the arctic freeze that is in my neck of the woods, which is leaving the temperature hovering right around the negative line. That’s a bad place to be…just above the line. This number needs to go UP. WAY WAY WAY UP. It is WAY too cold this early in the season. Not to mention that we have already lost 1 purple mitten, a knitted hat and a teal sock with hearts on it. If found, please return to address below.
The good thing is, you now have this puree you can make for your little one no matter what your weather is. This puree is along the same lines of this one that I posted on my Friday [which was Tuesday for the rest of you!], creamy, smooth and fast to make.
This Fast Baby FoodE Friday puree can be made in under 5 minutes – booyah!
It also sorta looks like mint chocolate chip ice cream!
And don’t even think I wasn’t tempted to slightly freeze it and try to pass it off as ice cream to my toddler. Fortunately/Unfortunately it doesn’t taste anything like mint chocolate chips.
This puree is sweet and fresh from the pears, while the kiwi adds a nice mild citrus flavor and the avocado brings body and fluff as well a good amount of creamy, lip-smacking fat.
Loaded with fiber, potassium, folate vitamin A and C this puree is going to bring some sun to your little one’s life no matter cold it is outside.

Question: I have frozen avocado and it does not defrost well… ugly brown color. Am I not freezing it fast enough? How do you defrost your avocado after you freeze it? Thanks in advance!
Hello Scarlett,
I find that when I freeze just avocado it turns brown right away but when I mix it with fruit that has a little bit of citrus in it (aka kiwi) it helps make the avocado freeze better. This worked for me for this recipe but let me know what happens to your avocado when you try it. I freeze within 30 minutes of making (depending on if there are no tantrums happening at the time) and I defrost my purees in the microwave.

So, one does not have to steam the pear first?
Pears don’t need to be cooked first if they are ripe enough (finger can indent in them). In some recipes I do steam them to get them extra creamy but pears are a fruit that you don’t have to cook before pureeing! How great is that?!?!

I hope this isn’t a silly question but is this just one serving? Or I guess how much does this make?
Hi michelle, my baby Zira of 8 months love this recipe. I see you don’t have a profile on kiwi, can you do one please. I would like to know more about this fruit and i know in internet you can find a lot of information but sometimes you don’t know what is true and what is not. Also, there is no many information on kiwi for babies.
I would really appreciate it.
Thank u
So glad baby Zira loves this recipe! I will put kiwi on the produce list:)

if for a baby 6 months can eat this menu is not
Yoda?
We made a couple portions. Do you serve this purée cold? It may be weird to warm kiwi and avacado
You can serve this warm, cold or at room temperature, depending on what your baby prefers.
Any recommendations for a substitute to the pear?
You could use mango, banana, or steamed apple, broccoli or cauliflower instead of the pear. Let us know what you picked and how it turned out.
Thank you for so many options! We tried the Mango instead of the pear. It was amazing! I have 3 kids, my youngest prior Kylan (6m) is 15yo. This child is the only one I’ve made baby food for. Would have never thought of those these foods making such a great combination. I look forward to making more recipes.
