Peach + Blueberry Overnight Oatmeal for Baby + Toddler
This Peach + Blueberry Overnight Oatmeal is the perfect recipe to prep the night before to have a warm and wholesome meal when you wake up in the morning. Great for toddlers, baby-led weaning and can make into a puree for baby.
Breakfast waiting for you when you wake up. That is the dream I have every night when I am sleeping. Me dream about food.. never!
A breakfast made out of wholesome steel cut oats slowing cooking away all night long with cinnamon, brown sugar and cloves layered with some chopped peaches and blueberries.
A breakfast where the night before, after you probably had a little too much wine, you toss a couple of items together in your crockpot and turn it on. Don’t be worried that the smell of these fragrant ingredients will wake you up from your deep sleep, haunting you with the promise of tomorrow’s breakfast.
Sorry, it won’t happen.
The delicious smell gets contained under the crockpot lid until you waddle into the kitchen with your baby, still sleepy-eyed and badly needing a stronger than a strong cup of coffee, and lift the lid. That is when it happens -all the magic.
A powerful smell of roasted cinnamon hits you a thousand air kisses and wraps its arms around you like a warm comfy blanket.
Calmness.
Centered.
Proud, that you worked that hard [well you can at least tell people you worked hard] and actually planned ahead to have something for you and your family before the house is even awake. Be proud, you did it.
It might even feel so nice that you won’t even notice when your wee little one is aggressively and repeatedly yanking on your robe trying to get you to feed them.
Hang on to those feeling, if only for a few seconds.

Ingredients
- 3 cups steel-cut oats
- 1/4 cup ground flax seeds, optional
- 1/4 cup ground almonds, optional
- 8 cups water or milk, I used 4 cups water and 4 cups organic 2% milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp salt optional
- 2 cups frozen peaches
- 2 cups frozen blueberries, any combination of fresh or frozen fruit would work well
Instructions
- Spray your crockpot or brush with olive oil. This is very important because your oatmeal will stick to it. Not lying. This caused you to spend a long time standing at the sink scrubbing your crockpot. No fun.
- Combines all of the ingredients into the crockpot and cook on low for 8 hours. When finished cooking, stir and let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Serve with whatever toppings make you happy. I go for some extra cinnamon, a handful of fruit and a splash of milk. Other good options are some raisins, butter, brown sugar, toasted coconut, nuts, etc.
